Blue Lacy Personality
Blue Lacys are smart and independent minded dogs, known for their high stamina and attentive nature. These dogs are strong workers and hunters, having been used for these jobs for as long as the breed has existed.
They are eager to please their families, and prefer to spend as much time with them as possible. Though they can be trained to live happily in a variety of living situations, more energetic lacys may prove to be too much to be around smaller children in the home.
An experienced owner is suggested for these dogs. Though they are highly intelligent and usually eager to do well by their owners, they can be quite a handful if not properly trained. But with the right guidance, these lovable pups grow up to be very well rounded and beloved companions.

History
Blue Lacy History & Lineage
The Blue Lacy originated some time around the late 19th century in Texas. They were aptly named after the Lacy brothers, who are credited with creating the breed.
The Blue Lacy was bred to be a strong working dog and a competent hunting companion. Since their beginnings, these dogs have filled these roles with a level of competence that has garnered them a healthy fan base.
Though the Blue Lacy has yet to be officially recognized, they were named the state dog of Texas in 2005, and they continue to grow in popularity and move closer toward official recognition.

Blue Lacy Medical Challenges
The Blue Lacy is considered to be a predominantly healthy breed, though some may experience issues common among all similar breeds. Speaking with the breeder about what health screening they do will help you gain some better insight into your Lacys health. Annual checkups with your veterinarian will also play an important role in helping you to better understand and ensure the health of your pup. Always be sure to contact your vet right away if you have any serious concern for your lacy’s well being. Your dog will be grateful for the loving care that you provide for them, and they will be sure to find plenty of ways to show it that will continue to bring you joy.
