Boerboel Medical Challenges
The Boerboel is considered to be a predominantly healthy breed, though some of these dogs have been known to experience issues common in similar breeds, such as joint dysplasia, heart disease, eyelid disorders, and certain forms of cancer. However, most Boerboels live full lives without any serious health problems. Annual checkups with your veterinarian will play an important role in helping you to keep on top of any potential health issues that may arise. The National Breed Club also suggests that you speak with your veterinarian about hip, elbow, and ophthalmologist evaluations to help you to better understand and ensure your Boerboels continued health. Your pup will be sure to be grateful for all the loving care that you provide for them, and they will be sure to find plenty of ways to show it that will continue to bring you smiles and joy.
